December brings the beginning of a busy holiday season and the end of a good year. This December we decided to celebrate the festivities and reflect on the past year with some of our favourite people by opening our doors on winter solstice for an intimate gathering. We popped pop corn, sipped on eggnog and enjoyed each other’s company with the Kinect and gestural play.
The Xbox Kinect is the beginnings of a future of technology, so we felt it would be fitting to get it going at our party and help us forge new and exciting ideas for the new year. Highly intuitive — and very addictive — people of all ages were able to step in front of the sensor and begin gaming almost instantly. Though it takes a little bit to get accustomed to the no-controller interface, once you get it calibrated to your body the interaction is pretty seamless.
There was a time when design innovation came from wartime ordeals. It now comes from the gaming & entertainment industry. Now that says a lot about people today. We’ve come a long way and can almost taste the possibilities of what the future could hold.
Thanks very much to those who came out to our little shindig. And to those who couldn’t make it, we wish you all the best this season and happy new year!
Here’s to bringing joy through meaningful design in 2011. Cheers!
