Nearly a decade ago, in 2014, the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation (CDHF) approached PIVOT with emerging research on the human gut microbiome and the effect it can have on one’s overall health.
The CDHF was well positioned as a governing body within the digestive health community, with direct connections to scientists, gastroenterology experts, and other health care professionals, to disseminate this relatively new information to the Canadian public and beyond. They were hoping to do the following:
As part of their mission, the CDHF is committed to providing trusted, accessible resources to Canadians to improve quality of life for those affected by digestive health issues.
- To provide a general introduction to the microbiome
- To serve as a resource for the public, healthcare practitioners, media and government
- To establish the CDHF as a leader in the area of human gut microbiome
- To develop programs and resources, including articles, animations, and infographics, to support digestive health education
